When You Grow Up I Want to Tell You

This poem is dedicated to the youth of this generation and the generation next. Someone once asked why there is a need for a high standard in doing things. The answer is because it is required of us by the Creator. If there is no high standard, there is no refinement and the work of art will not last. We had benefited from the beautiful creations of the people before us: beautiful buildings, beautiful paintings, exalted music, wonderful prose and poetry. As those artists exceeded the expectations of their times, their contributions to the world continue to guide and inspire us today. Where we lack, maybe the next generation can fill. Where we fail, maybe the next generation can succeed. I can only agree with one of the great artists of our times, when he said "Artists are mere terminals of the higher power." When you grow up, I want to tell you,
When You Grow Up I want To Tell You
When you grow up, you should know your thoughts can move the world.
What you do, what you say, what you think affects everyone.
So tame your thoughts, watch your words, guard your actions.
The sages say there is a law of attraction. Your positive thoughts attract positive ideas, and negative thoughts attract negative ideas.
The earth that you live in has its own standards. It is alive. It approves. It rejects.
The air you breathe yearns to retain its purity.
The water you drink desires itself to be like a mirror in its cleanness, and vegetation depend on it.
Why not just plant a flower and enjoy its beauty? Why not sow seeds of kindness and reap gratitude? Why not sow goodwill and reap peace?
What you do, what you say, what you think affects everyone.
So tame your thoughts, watch your words guard your actions.
It is the key to a peaceful life. #

So Blue, So Cool (A Poem About Miles Davis)

Hooked, harnessed and held I listen.
Not knowing how to sing
It is the sound of a stately trumpet somewhere speaking in the ray
Twilight and solitude
Realization and acknowledgment somehow rising above the fray.
An errant messenger noble, vast and true
A bluebird at the edge of cold air
Pomp and frippery Royal blood
A wonderful circumstance
In the moment
Yes High above the clouds
While many people may be familiar with Miles Davis, the musician who served as the inspiration for my poem, fewer people may know about Jazz Poetry. Jazz Poetry was first introduced to specific members of the American community during the early 1920's.
It's development coincided with a growing interest in Jazz, and more specifically Jazz culture, as it included a highly unique form of rhythm, melody and style that included an exceptional phraseology that was unfamiliar to vast segments of American society.
As a means to remedy this problem, Vachel Lindsay and Mina Loy were two writers who attempted to capture the essnce of this burgeoning cultural phenomenon. They attempted to convey some of the special characteristics of Jazz culture that had had a significant impact upon American artists, poets and free thinkers of various types during the second decade of the 20th century.
In retrospect however, it is certainly true that other artists had a greater feel and affinity for the music. They were able to write in a style that reflected the freedom of improvisation that was the cornerstone from which American Jazz had sprung.
In essence, they were able to capture the feeling, mood and rhythm of the work.
These artists included Langston Hughes and Paul Laurence Dunbar.
In effect, both Hughes and Dunbar expanded the spiritual realm of the English language as they wrote in a form that replicated the words of the musicians who were creating this wonderful form of music.
A fine example of Jazz Poetry is Langston Hughes' "I Too, Sing America". It is a jazzed up reference to Walt Whitman's illustrious poem, " I Hear America Singing".

Michael Jackson - The Truth

What's the truth about Michael Jackson? Unlike so many of the so called "talents" that are manufactured today on shows like American Idol, Michael Jackson's talent was natural. Even from the age of seven, his father Joe knew saw something there and began to exploit it early.
The truth is, somethings can't be taught or learned and Michael's talent certainly fits this category. Along with the ability to sing, dance and perform with the expertise of person many years older, young Michael Jackson was destined to be a star, whether he wanted it or not. It was clear that he loved to perform, however it also became obvious that he did not like socializing with people when he was off stage.
Only a few were allowed into his inner circle, mostly stars that shared a common ground with his rise from childhood stardom. Famous people like Elizabeth Taylor, Brook Shields, Macaulay Culkin, Emmanuel Lewis, and others who had a similar background were the few allowed into Michael Jackson's world. It was if they were all part of a fraternity of childhood stars that were forced to grow up quickly and thus lose their chance to be children at all.
With Michael, it seemed as if his artistic abilities were in direct contrast to his social skills and the two struggled to coexist throughout his rather short life. One could witness that when it came time to perform, Michael became a different person. Watch some of his videos and you'll see evidence of this: the expressions on his face, the determination to shine and impress, vs. off stage, when being interviewed, as he became rather shy and withdrawn.
In an interview several years back, Michael Jackson confessed that his childhood was not a very happy one. The pressures put on him by his father, which included both verbal and physical abuse, was just the start. Then, as he became the focal part of the Jackson 5, Michael felt the pressure of having to carry the family on their never ending ride to success. It was soon clear that he was the bread winner and the family was counting on him to out do himself with every consecutive success. Imagine having your family as well as the rest of the world expecting you to out perform yourself time and time again.
It's been documented that Michael Jackson would follow the charts daily to see where his record sales were and how they were charting. First came Off The Wall, and then Thriller, and then Bad, and with each successive album, Michael was determined to out do himself, a feat that proved impossible.
Millions of fans around the world are now mourning the loss of this incredible talent. How sad it is that we as humans forget what we have until it's no longer around, however I guess that's what makes us human after all. However, instead of the media dwelling on how different he was, his strange behavior, and his quirks, why not revel in his genius and art? After all, I'm sure if we all search deep within ourselves, every one of us has our own quirks and deep, dark secrets. Michael was a true genius when it came to his craft and his abilities and no speculation or undermining of his character now that he is gone will ever take away from that. In fact, as time goes by, the only things that will most likely remain about this man is his music. And that's all Michael Jackson wanted anyway: to share his gift with the world.

Michael Jackson's Life in 400 Words

Michael Joseph Jackson was Born on August 29, 1958 in Gary Indiana, He was the 7th child in the Jackson Family. He's the son of the working class couple Joseph Walter Jackson and Katherine Esther. He's other siblings are Rebbie, Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, La Toya, Marlon, Randy and Janet. The Jackson 5 released several songs such as "Big Boy" under the record label Steeltown in 1967 and they signed with Motown Records in 1968. In 1972, Michael Jackson released four solo albums under Jackson 5's franchise, 2 of them are Got to Be There and Ben.

In 1982, Michael Jackson released the Thriller. Over 109 millions copies sold, it became the best-selling album of all time. In 1984, While filming a Pepsi Cola commercial in Los Angeles, Jackson suffered 2nd degree burns to his scalp after pyrotechnics set his hair on fire accidentally. It was also in 1984 that he received an award from U.S. president Ronald Reagan for his support of charities for alcoholic people and drug addicts.

He released the highly anticipated "BAD" in 1987 and started the Bad World Tour in the same year and grossed 125 million dollars. In 1993, he was accused of child sexual abuse by a 13-year-old boy, named Jordan Chandler and father Evan Chandler. By the fall of the same year, he got addicted to drugs and went into drug rehabilitation for several months.

He Married Lisa Marie Presley in 1994 and they divorced in 1996. During the HIStory world tour he married dermatologist nurse Deborah Jeanne Rowe, with whom he had a daughter and a son. They divorced in 1999 but remained friends.

Michael Jackson Still Alive?

Michael Jackson is dead at 50 years old on June 25 2009. The "King of Pop" was an icon around the globe with millions of fans worldwide. But how could this have happened? What contributed to Michael Jackson's death? Many say it was his prescription drug use. Perhaps it was the stress on the "Mega" come-back he was planning. This knowledge is still unknown however there is another method Jackson was reported as using a few years back while still in his prime as his "Bad" tour was taking place. Through audio recordings Michael Jackson was said to be able to program his brains frontal lobes to weed out interferences and open up the communication channels inside his mind that are blocked by the conscious mind. This was said to become the main source of inspiration for Michael's post "Thriller" album. The audio recordings would later prove to become priceless as it has now sold over thousands of copies worldwide.

While it is not clear if Jackson used the recordings up until his tragic passing, it was very clear that Michael Jackson had a flare for the unknown and often reflected on "New Age" literature from his personal library.

He was fascinated with magic and always spoke about his awareness of "a higher presences". As we all look back on his fascinating life which was cut too short let us not forget that he is still with us in song and spirit and we all all owe a debt to the king of pop Michael Jackson for the massive contribution this one man has made to this world. So "the King" is not dead. We miss you Michael, may your soul be in peace now!

Got Dumped, and Want Your Ex Girlfriend Back? These Are Your Only Two Choices : By Brent Daniels

Listen dude, I know (believe me) that being dumped is tough. It eats you up. Especially if your girlfriend was the woman of your dreams. And even more so if she used to be yours for more than a year. A breakup an extremely painful experience to endure, one of the worst things a guy can go through.

If you are currently in this situation, you are at a crossroads right now. You will have to choose what you are going to do straight away. This is going to be your Battle Plan, you must do one of these two things. Only you can make the choice, and listen, there is no right or wrong here. But choose with care.

Choice number one: You can try to go through the pain, feel the true force of it. It will hurt like hell for some time. But after that you can let time heal your heartache bit by small bit. It will definitely heal, at some point. And the experience will make you stronger.

Choice number two: You can put up a fight once more, and really give everything you've got to win your ex girlfriend back. Make your true love yours again.

If you choose the latter, then you will need to come prepared. This game is not for sissies, you will need to man-up. Crying and whining, or stalking her is not gonna do it for you. You need a solid plan, and you need to pull yourself together.

If you want to learn some advanced solid psychological methods (that have produced proven results for 83.6% of the guys who were man enough to put them through a full test) do yourself a favor, and get an expert on board.

Michael Jackson Dies in LA: By Clinton Q Hester

After producing such amazing hits as Thriller, Billie Jean, Beat It, and a host of others, the King of Pop has gone the way of all the earth today. Michael Jackson, the King of Pop (and the King of Headlines, some may say), is now making headlines in a new way: Michael Jackson dies in LA. Today, he was pronounced dead at the UCLA University Hospital. His death brings sorrow probably to millions of pop fans around the world, some of whom might be the same ones who remember him having started out as the little kid with the afro and the nifty suit.

It's been a long ride from then to today, the day that Michael Jackson dies in LA. That ride has included such memorable moments as his dangling a baby out of an upper-story window in a Berlin Hotel; several rounds of plastic surgery and skin bleaching; accusations and even prosecution for various kinds of indecency; and a host of other things that could be called ills-but at the same time, knowing that he is gone does not mean that his spirit is gone as well. And by spirit, we don't mean anything metaphysical, religious, or sentimental-we mean simply that Michael Jackson is and was the King of Pop. Whether his crown goes into his grave with him remains to be seen, but Michael Jackson is not really as gone as some would think. For though the great pop star has died today, thinking that the spirit of Michael Jackson dies in LA today is to be thinking a falsehood.

What now will the great satirists of our age do? To whom will they turn? The great body of humor about Michael Jackson dies in LA today, that is for certain. It's a lot more difficult to embrace so great a body of humor when the subject is so black and bleak. (Though, truth be told, the Irish sense of humor is rather black, and so perhaps there will be Irish who can yet wring a joke or two from the poor corpse of the dead pop star.) Great researchers of pop culture will likely venerate him, while certainly being sure to balance the view with a bit of the darker truth, and so the satirists of our age will have to turn to the likes of Paris Hilton and Justin Timberlake for their kicks-Paris Hilton for the satire, and Justin Timberlake for the kicks (and the air guitar, and the crazy dance moves and . . . but it's not the same as MJ).

Because even though the spirit of pop and the greatness of the body of Michael Jackson music literature-spanning CDs, albums, vinyls, probably even 8-tracks, in addition to mp3s-will yet live, there is a little bit of the fact that some of the history of Michael Jackson dies in LA. And so however you choose to honor him, make your choice, and give him that honor-the King of Pop deserves at least a nod.
